Cross Nat's Results!

You will probably find my race reports on OutsideAllDay but here is the quick scoop! Also here is a link to all the pix Greg took (they are in reverse order unfortunately!)

Friday was Master's Women 30-34 in a 100% muddy and cold course! MTB handling skills came into play on this one, and I finished in 9th place out of 22 finishers. It was a heavy hitting field, so I was pleased with this!

Saturday it snowed.....we stayed indoors, and I rode on a terrible hotel gym bike!

Sunday was my Elite Women's race: even colder temps, and not much thaw of the ground. SO we would be racing on frozen mud ruts, ice and snow. Perfect! Had a call up somewhere around 60th, but utilized the MTB skills once again to finish in 27th (out of 72 starters, 64 finishers). Was just a minute outside the top 20! I keep replaying in my head where I lost time. Only crashed once the whole weekend, which I was pleased about. I think that crash may have cost me a top 25 finish though!

Congrats to my Team CICLE teammates (Dot, Carolyn and Heidi) and everyone else who represented SoCal at KC Nats! We showed that we can handle the winter weather!

Thanks to everyone who was out there cheering! Also thanks to Greg for making the trip out to KC to watch us race in the cold! Your support means alot to me as you already know.

Friday's race... mud and more mud:

Sunday's race: cold and frozen mud, ice and snow too!

Gotta Love this (see below)! There were people all over this sofa during the elite races on Sunday. A great cheering section in a technical section of the course (hard to tell from the pix, but it was tough)!

Adventures in the Midwest Part I

Today I drove across Missouri....

3.5 hours from Kansas City... heavy rain for the final hour of the drive. Not fun in the dark with a million big rigs on I-70!

Thankfully the ice storm wasn't as bad as they expected. However, the trees in KC are covered in ice. Should make for a messy cross nationals this weekend!

Now I am in St Louis for client meetings....

Thursday night I drive back across Missouri...

and then prepare to race... twice!

Quick Update

Maybe I will start blogging more once MTB season starts up...

Quick overview of the past month:

1. Lots of training (and resting when possible) and some more cross racing.

2. Had a cold for over a week, that curbed my State Cross Champs race the other weekend. Oh well! got to support the team at least..... Also missed out on the Turkey Trot in Glendale (missed seing ARA!) because I wanted to try to get over the cold and not get worse. Thankfully I could still do easy rides and keep lifting ....

3. Back on track now, had a decent race yesterday at Camp Pendelton. Thanks to everyone for cheering, especially Roger who was there supporting Brant. He stuck around to see my race too. the cheering was great!

4. Taught GIS to Joy's 9th grade geography classes. Loved it!

5. Spent a few days in Boulder last week. Want to move back...

6. Off to Kansas City this week for Cross Nat's! Racing Masters 30-34 Friday and Elite/Pro on Sunday (with more than 90 other women!). Packing all of the warm clothes for this one! Highs in teh 20s or low 30s. ICK!

7. Congrats to Joy for her Pro upgrade! In my mind she has already been Pro all year. Now it's official. :) 2008 will bring exciting times for her!
